Volunteers update pre VE Day

Again, we thank you for your support in recent weeks, we are still no closer to knowing what our future looks like, we’ll have to see what the briefing contains on Sunday.

This weekend coming should be a long holiday weekend, with the Early May Bank Holiday taking place this Friday the 8th to commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE day. Normally Perranporth would be a hubbub of activity, with busy shops and eateries, and groups enjoying home parties and BBQs if the weather is good.

Unfortunately we are having to celebrate under lockdown, so we are having to get creative; I see the Co-Op have asked for Union Jack flags to be coloured in and they would like to display them, I know the Beavers & Cubs are making & sending bunting to a couple of the care homes.

I’ve seen suggestions of having a ‘stay-at-home’ street party, and people decorating their houses with memorial style decorations and lots of red, white & blue! What are you planning?

I wonder if I can ask you to check in with your buddy, check that they are OK (let us know if they are not), do they need anything that would help them to feel included tomorrow?

Could you ask them one question – “What are you most looking forward to when lockdown ends?”
We’d like to compile the answers, along with yours please?

Do let us know if we can help, thanks again, you really are helping,
